Joseph B. Kippenbrock

VIRGINIA BEACH — Joseph Brown Kippenbrock, 86, retired owner of Kippenbrock Scale Service in the Ocean View section of Norfolk, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 11, 1914, in San Antonio, Texas, to Francis Lewis Kippenbrock and Josephine Bernardine Brown Kippenbrock.

Mr. Kippenbrock was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Cora Belle Crawford Walton Kippenbrock; and his first wife, Harriett Shumate Kippenbrock.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia D. Kippenbrock; a stepdaughter, Bessie Kelly of Franklin; two stepgrandchildren, Jerry Gower Jr. and Catherine Hill, both of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews, including David M. Kippenbrock of Norfolk.

Mr. Kippenbrock was a member of Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Norfolk and was a retired Navy lieutenant commander, having served during World War II. He was past president and a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Crossroads Lions Club. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 60; Ocean View Masonic Lodge 335; and Royal Arch Masons, Norview Chapter 62 and Grand Chapter.

A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Art Jenson at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.

Hope you get through it! Glandular fever (mono) can get prttey bad I hear sometimes you are still fatigued after a few months. I hope you are recovering well and that you’ll be able to enjoy the Summer sun soon []
