GEORGE, Joseph A. "Beansie", 94 of Wheeling, died Friday, December 17, 2004 in Good Sheperd Nursing Home, Wheeling.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling, a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry Plant, an Army Veteran of World War II, the former President of the Benwood Fire Department, the former Vice President of the Italian Lodge of Benwood, the former President and Vice President of the Italian American Independent Club of Benwood, a member of the American Legion, Post #1 and a member of the Elm Grove Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Basilio and Carmella Scaffidi
George, two brothers, Peter and Anthony George, and a sister, Antonina
George.
Surviving is his wife, Rose M. DeCarlo George, a son, Basil C. George and his wife Janice of Wheeling, two daughters, Mary Burkhalter of Wheeling and Dolores A. Lubic and her husband David of Martinsburg, WV, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Private service and entombment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Benwood Fire Department or the Altzheimer Foundation of America, 322-8th Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY, 10001.
