Sabinski. John W. “Sab”, 71, of Bethesda, OH died March 21, 2015 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV.

John was born January 22, 1944 in Bellaire, Ohio a son of the late Stanley Sabinski and Grace “Eileen” Wiley Sabinski Smelko.

He was retired from North American Coal Company, a member of the American Legion Epworth Post # 90 and VFW Post #9712 both of Bethesda, OH, Masonic Lodge Ionic #438 F & AM Bellaire, OH, a Navy Veteran and a Christian by faith.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his step-Father, Emil Smelko and a grandson Gavin Sabinski.

Surviving are his companion, Shawn Keller, two sons, John Kamy Sabinski of Belmont. OH, James Keri Sabinski of Plain City, OH, two brothers, Alan Sabinski of California and William “Bill” Smelko of Grove City, OH, 2 Sisters, Paula Don Giffin and Penny DanFrizzi all of Bellaire, OH, The mother of his sons Patti Sabinski of Bridgeport, OH, 3 grandsons, Josh, Jordon and Johnny Sabinski.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio where funeral services will be held at noon Thursday with Rev. David Demarest officiating.

Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Bellaire, OH.

Masonic services will be held at 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Belmont County Veterans Association will conduct graveside services .

At such a young age I met my great uncle John so I don’t remember too much. but may he rest in peace. I pray for everyone who lost this mine in their present life but we await paradise and will soon be reunited with our family and loved ones take care.

I was sorry to hear of John’s passing. We were neighbors on Noble Street and I was a teammate with John on the BHS track and cross country teams. My prayers are with John’s family.

John will be missed at our North American Coal Reunions! He was always the first one to make his reservation & enjoyed being with his old friends. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Johnny was not only my classmate from grade school through graduation, but he was a neighbor. As kids we played together, along with lots of other neighbor kids. Good memories.
