Dear Shirley and family …

We have always enjoyed the both of you and I specifically have always liked John since I first met him at Bendix in the early ’70. We always though of you both as mentors and friends. So why haven’t we visited you both over the years … I’m sorry, there’s no excuse … especially since we only live three blocks away in Winsor Great Park.

We share in your grief and both of you will be in our prayers. We know John and Sandie and your extended family will be there to help you.

We love the picture of John, it’s exactly how we remember him … it brings back the old days and the many times when you both would entertain the Bendix crowd at your home “after work”.

We also remember all the traveling you and John did after he retired … all over the states. We decided to do the same, I’m 60 and Nora is 58, and we try to “get-out-of-town”, as you both did, at every possible chance.

We miss you both and we will contact you in the very near future, if for no other reason than to say hello.

Thinking of you always … Love, Dan & Nora Berkery, 17 Argall Place, Newport News, VA, 23608.

My condolences to John’s family. I worked with him at Bendix/Allied/Siemens. I remember him as a great guy to work with, but never new about his spectacular military service. He never mentioned it. I was especially impressed to see that in the Navy, he was a “mustang”. I was only in the reserves, but I have a very high regard for mustangs. That alone would make him an exceptional man.

Again, my sympathy.
