John W. Kriechbaum, 80, of Barnesville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Friday July 18, 2008 at his home.

He was Born February 27, 1928 in Moundsville, West Virginia a son of the late Sherman and Geraldine Gillespie Kriechbaum.

John was a retired coal miner with the Quarto # 4 Mine and a member of the First Christian Church in Barnesville, Ohio.

He was an avid Nascar, Cleveland Browns and a die-hard Richard Petty fan. John was a great farmer and gardner.

Surviving are his wife, Betty L. Brown Kriechbaum, who he married on October 10, 1958, seven children, John Kriechbaum, Jr., Dan Kathy Danford, Diane Terry Baker, Susan Keith McCloud, Melinda Mark Stephens, Doug Jennifer Kriechbaum and Melissa Jason Gander, two brothers, Dale Cookie Kriechbaum and Nile Jean Kriechbaum. Also twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren with two more on the way and his very special dog, Ladybug.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 186 Main Street Powhatan Point, ohio on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Tuesday at 1 pm with the Rev. Edward D. Eberhart officiating. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio with Full Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 5565 and American Legion Post 228 both of Powhatan Point, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the 3-ccc, Senior Center Main Street Barnesville, Ohio 43713.

Dear Doug and Family,

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. I went to Elementary school with Doug in Powhatan. Although it’s been many years it’s a friendship i’ve never forgotten. My best wishes to everyone.
