HORES, John W., 57, of Martins Ferry, formerly of Wheeling, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was employed as an electrician at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Martins Ferry plant, with 31 years of service; he was an honorary member of Martins Ferry Volunteer Fire Department, serving as EMT and a member of the ladder company; a member of Martins Ferry Eagles; United Steel Workers of America, Local 10238; and a Catholic by faith.
He was born February 27, 1944, in Wheeling, son of the late John A. and Mary Mildred Stegman Hores; he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Hores.
Surviving are a son, John J. Hores of Martins Ferry and his mother, Nancy Lutz; a daughter, Heather N. Hores of Shadyside and her mother Barbara J. Meeker-Hores; a special friend, Susie Romey of Martins Ferry; three sisters Patricia A. Dei and her husband, Dick of Wheeling, Andrea S. Esposito of Fairfax, Va. and Jayne L. Schmitt of Beaver Falls, Pa. formerly of Glen Dale, WV; a granddaughter, Madelyne Marie of Yorkville; and several nephews and nieces.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Paul Yuenger officiating. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
