John Prystasz, 94, of Powhatan Point, OH died Friday, May 8, 2015 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born June 11, 1920 in Avella, PA., a son of the late John and Mary Dwornyk Prystasz, Sr.
John was a retired electrician at North American Coal Company’s Central Shop, a Presbyterian by faith, a member of UMWA and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Hazel Mae Bachman Prystasz on October 7, 1991; two brothers, Andrew and Mike Prystasz; a sister, Josephine Rothermund.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Ilona Prystasz of Zanesville, OH., Gary Debbie Prystasz of Clarington, OH., a daughter, Linda Chuck Antill of Powhatan Point; two sisters, Ann Litwin of Pittsburgh, PA., and Agnes Pugh of Powhatan Point; six grandchildren, Caren, John, Gara, Halli, Crystal and Courtney; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory 186 Main Street Powhatan Point, OH 43942 where services will be held Tuesday at 11 am with Rev Lorna Knight officiating.
Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Powhatan Veterans Honor Guard.
