Age 91

John M. Weber 91, of Highland Drive, East Liverpool, Ohio died, Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on October 22, 1910, the son of the late John R. and Lena Castner Weber.

Living his entire life in the area, Mr. Weber retired form the Homer Laughlin China Company, where he worked as a Caster and prior to that he had worked for Edward M. Knowles Pottery, working a total of 48 years in the pottery industry.
He had been a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where he was the custodian for many years. He belonged to International Order of Pottery and Allied Workers Union, Oddfellows Lodge #379 and United Methodist’s Men’s Group. He was also an avid East Liverpool Potters fan and a member of the Blue and White Nonpareil Club.

His wife, Beulah Baxter Weber, whom he married September 16, 1938, died in June of 1987.

He is survived by 2 sons, Ben Weber of East Liverpool, OH and Philip Weber and his wife Raven of East Liverpool, OH; 2 daughters, Linda Weidger and her husband, Donald of East Liverpool, OH and Carolyn Czech and her husband, Thomas J. of East Liverpool, OH; 3 sisters, Anna Hendershot of East Liverpool, OH, Ruth George of East Liverpool, OH and Phyllis Ross of Florissant, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, Robert Weber and his wife, Beth, Lori Tenney and her husband, Rick, Jason Czech and Thomas Czech all of East Liverpool, OH, Kenneth Weber and his wife Patty of Brilliant, OH, Gretchen Vinton and her husband, Lane of Wellsville, OH, Jennifer Weber and Marisa Weber, both of East Liverpool, OH; Kim and her husband Jay Staley of Wellsville, OH, Amy McLaughlin and her husband, Jeff of New Cumberland, WV, Cathy Powell and her husband, Philip of New Cumberland, WV, Sue Dailey and her husband, Jim of East Liverpool, OH, Scott Swigert and his wife Bonnie of Elkton, OH and Mark Swigert and his wife Shelley of East Liverpool, OH; 23 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, John L. Weber and Robert F. Weber; 2 brothers, Alfred Weber and Richard Weber; 3 sisters, Twila Mobley, Mildred Blakesley and edna Watson; a daughter-in-law, Joann Weber.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Home on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. William Church of the Church officiating.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Friday, June 14, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
