RASZKIEWICZ, John M. “Rusty” 66, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, July 21, 2008.
He was born December 26, 1941 in Wheeling, a son of the late John M. Sr. and Frances T. Wisniewski Raszkiewicz.
Rusty was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Beech Bottom Plant, a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, a Marine veteran and past vice president of the PAP Club where he was the star Euchre player.
Since his retirement, he spent most of his time with his grandchildren. He loved them all very much. During the last year and a half of his illness, he fought everyday for them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Frances L. Prager, a nephew, Brian J. Eikey.
Surviving are two children, Delcee L. Cook and her husband Jerry of Glen Dale, WV; John M. Raszkiewicz III and his wife Terra of Wellsburg, WV; four sisters, Veronica E. Eikey and her husband Rodney, Barbara J. Greene and her husband James and Michaeline L. Raszkiewicz all of Wheeling; Anna Marie Raszkiewicz of Moundsville, WV; eight grandchildren, John Zachary Abrigg, Alyssa Marie Abrigg, Jared Robert Cook, Allie Brianne Cook, Alayna Nicole Cook, Christopher John Raszkiewicz, Cierra Marie Raszkiewicz, Courtney Lynn Raszkiewicz, the mother of his children, Mary Lou Garrett and her husband John, several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Wheeling Chapel, 3828 Jacob St., Wheeling, where vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Charles McGinnis as celebrant.
Interment and military graveside honors in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions can be made to Valley Hospice.
