John Katona, 75, of Wheeling, WV, died Thursday May 22, 2003 in Point Marion, PA.
He was born October 13, 1927 the son of the late Louis and Mary Kosto Katona.
John was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a U.S. Navy veteran and the former owner of the Grove Beauty Salon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Panepinto Katona in 1997, and a brother, Louis Katona.
John is survived by four sons: Steven J. Katona and his wife Ruth of Pickerington, Ohio, Michael L. Katona and his wife Christie of Morgantown, WV, Phillip J. Katona of Millis, Mass, Joseph J. Katona and his wife Michelle of Lake Lynn, PA, three sisters: Irma Bochu and her husband John of California, Irene Marino and her husband Richard of Niles, Ohio, Margaret Dekleva and her husband Edward of Cleveland, Ohio, eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. and also on Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling, WV., where vigil services will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, with the Rev. H. Joseph Wilhelm, S.M. officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
