Virginia Beach- John ”Jack” Wright died in his home on October 13, 2001.
Mr. Wright was the son of the late Evelyn and Daniel Wright of New Jersey. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1979 after 24 years of service and was a member of Fleet Reserve and Navy League.
He is survived by daughter, Mary Frances Barnes and her husband John of Corolla, NC; son, John D. Wright of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Kathleen Wright of New York; grandson, Edward Wallace Barnes; Sister, Evelyn Voehringer of FL; brother, Daniel R. Wright of NJ; former wife, Norma Wright and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Altmeyer Funeral Home Virginia Beach chapel with Father James Dorson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

I enjoyed Jack’s friendship even for the short time I knew him.
I live at the Cromwell House where I met Jack. We all had lots of fun times with Jack and we thought very highly of him. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.

My deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved Jack. Jack and I were shipmates on the USS Shreveport many years ago. I have not seen him in several years and wish I had tried harder to stay in touch.
Jack was good people and I know he will be greatly missed.
