John J. "Jack" "Chopper" Comer, 79, of South Wheeling, died Wednesday July 2, 2003 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
He was born December 21, 1923 in Wheeling, a son of the late Peter and Martha Auber Comer.
He was retired from Wheeling Machine Products Co./Joy Manufacturing, with 31 years of service, was a member of the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Irene Przelenski Comer, a son, David J. Comer of Wheeling; a daughter, Debora J. Paree and her husband John of Carlisle, PA and Margaret Ann Walton and her husband Ronald of Wheeling; two brothers, Louis Robert Comer and his wife Mary of Benwood and James Comer and his wife Jean of Wheeling; three grandchildren, Kathleen Paree, Melanie Comer and Jason Paree; three great-grandchildren, Canen Paree, Kaylene Paree and Alec Ward and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 12-3 and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 3828 Jacob Street, South Wheeling. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday July 7, 2003 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Lacrosse, S.M. at celebrant. Entombment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Alphonsus Catholich Church, Wheeling.

Irene and Family-

I was sorry to read about John’s death. He was certainly greeted by many friends in heaven but I think my Mom and Dad were the first in line! Our prayers are with you.
