Dear Linda and Family,

We were so sorry to learn of the passing of John. I regret that I cannot be there for the service. John was such a good friend and i recall the many hours that we spent talking about so many different issues over the years. John always had a lot of insight when it came to people and his community. It was a pleasure to see the commitment that John had for his job, especially his efforts to help troubled youth.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Calhoun family at your time of loss. John helped many people and will be missed.

Sincerely,

Bob, Bobby, and Kayla Ney

Dear Linda and family: I will miss John’s presence from our Big Brothers and Big Sisters board. He and I worked so many fund raisers together and he was tireless in his efforts to help the organization…he was so unselfish in helping BBBS and his invaluable time that he gave us. I knew his health had declined and am so very sorry for your loss. He will be missed by the town of Bellaire because he always had the best interests of our community at heart. He was also so very proud of his children and grandchildren and talked frequently about them. May you find comfort in the many thoughts and prayers that go out to all of you. Sincerely,

MaryJo Zacchini Kurko

Linda, Terri, Jeanne, and John Jr.,

I want to extend my deepest condolences to your family. I know John will be missed. I worked with John for 10 years back in the 70âÄôs and 80âÄôs. When he went back to patrol, I took over his duties as Juvenile Officer. John was one of my mentors from whom I learned a lot. One of the best tricks that John played on me was when the SheriffâÄôs office sent a message on the teletype that a lady had her pocketbook stolen. Before I had a chance to read it, John went in and changed it to pocketzood. When I read it, it didnâÄôt sound right so I asked, âÄúWhat the heck is a pocketzood?âÄù At that point John and the others in the office busted out laughing, I knew I had been had. We all laughed about it and I had earned a new nickname, âÄúpocketzoodâÄù. I will remember John and the good times we had on the department, especially the pocketzood prank. He will be appreciated for all he has done for Bellaire, his friends, and community. He will be truly missed.
