John E. Kobasko, 76, of McMechen, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, surrounded by his family, at Liza’s Place.
John was born July 18, 1938, a son of the late Charles and Agnes Delach Kobasko. He was a Catholic by faith, retired crane operator for Wheeling – Pittsburgh Steel, a US Air Force veteran, and a former member of the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his loving wife, June Coleman Kobasko, and two brothers, Donald G., and Charles Kobasko.
He is survived by four sons, Alan Maria of England, John II Lisa of Wheeling, Chuck of Warwood, and David Traci of McMechen; four daughters, Sharon Gene Holmes Kobasko of McMechen, Donna James Crow of Moundsville, Christine Dr. Dung Le of St. Clarisville, Ohio, and Angela Robert Sells of West Bellaire, Ohio; one brother, James Elizabeth Kobasko of Warwood; two sisters-in-law, Antoinette Kobasko and Carol Thompson; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and his little buddy, Timmy Lilley. John was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 4-8pm and Monday, March 23, 2015 from 9 until time of service at 10am, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, with Rev. Mitch Johnston officiating. Entombment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department, Kathy Martin from Dr. David Hess’ office, and to the nurses at Valley Hospice; Tara, Jamie, Kelli, Ashley and Missy Wright and Liza’s Place.
