On Angel’s wings, John Dennis McAtee, 32 passed on Monday, March 9, 2015 at The Nevada Hospice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was born March 18, 1982 in Wheeling, West Virginia a son of Charles R. McAtee and Mary M. Hostasa Burris.
John graduated high school and a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University, Class of 2004. He was an excellent gymnastic competitor and vocalist. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and excelled as a performer and choreographer at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Hostasa and his paternal grandparents, William Charles and Virginia McAtee.
Surviving in addition to his father, Charles R. McAtee of Shadyside and his mother, Mary M. Randy Burris of Wheeling are his loving maternal grandmother, Mary Hostasa of Wheeling, beloved two brothers, J.R. Charles Tabitha McAtee of Shadyside and Joe Jena McAtee of Bellaire, three uncles, John Hostasa of Columbus, Mike Debbie Hostasa of Thornville and Bill Judy McAtee of Blairsville, PA. Also seven cousins, Matt, Erika, Brad Jon Thomas, Chase, Rachael, Wendy and twelve nieces and nephews, the Jim and Karen Kelly family and Roann Wojcik family. The family would like to extend a special blessing and thank you to Jeffery Schwimmer and many of John’s other friends.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on
Monday at 2 pm at the Chapel in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio with Rev David Roberts officiating.

Your soul is pure white and your heart is pure gold. You never stopped smiling. Your zest for life was contagious. You will always be the little boy that I came to visit on my trips to Shadyside. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. John was one of the best friends I ever had. No words can express how much he will be missed. I have so many memories growing up with John which I will hold dear. I have never met anyone more full of life who never gave up on his dreams. Heaven has truly gained another angel.
