John C. Watkins

Watkins, John C., 88, of Benwood, WV, died Monday, November 24, 2008 in Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV.
He was born January 11, 1920 in Wheeling, a son of the late Howard and Anna Marie Watkins. John was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, a U.S, Army veteran of WWII, and a Catholic by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Watkins; three brothers, Elwood, Howard, and Donald Watkins; a sister, Mary Margaret Seabright.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Robert Forrester of McMechen, WV; two sons, John R. Watkins and Danny Watkins, both of Benwood; two grandchildren, Christine Forrester of McMechen and Jennifer Forrester of St. Clairsville, OH; four great-grandchildren, Angelica Bendo, Sheehan White, Kayla Burrows and Faith Burrows; two brothers, Robert Watkins of Ohio and Paul Watkins of Wheeling; two sisters, Bonnie Vazquez of St. Clairsville and Betty Snyder of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, with Rev. Joseph J. Hayden, S.J. officiating.
