CHESAPEAKE
John Botelis, 63, loving compassionate husband of Kaye Ramsey Botelis, died on Sunday, March 31, 2002.
Born in Washington, D.C. to the late Tom and Pauline Botelis, he was a retired postmaster for Chesapeake and served for 32 years.
John was proud of his career accomplishments to include sitting on the Greenbriar Property Owners Association Board, past manager of the engineering department of the Merrifield Post Office, past acting Post Master of the Springfield, Virginia Station 22150, and greatly assisting in the acquisition, construction and design of the Franconia Station 22310. He attended Azalea Garden Church of God.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; four children, James E. Cox, Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Virginia Beach, Pamela K. Howery and her husband, Tim, of Remington, Virginia, Robert E. Cook, Jr. and his wife, Tanya Baker Cook of Newport News, Virginia and Stefanie Russell of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren, Timothy Michael Howery, Jessica Cox, Nicholas Howery, Brittany Cook, James Cox, Jr., Jonathan Howery, Michael Cook and Caleb David Cox; brother, Jim Botelis and his wife, Gayle of Newport News, Virginia; Aunt, Pat Samos; goddaughter and niece, Anastasia and nephew, T.J.
The visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
