MILLER, John A. Jr., 87, of Valley Grove WV, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Peterson Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, Wheeling WV. Born in Wheeling WV on November 24, 1920, John was the son of the late John A. and Cecelia M. Striff Miller. He was a graduate of Triadelphia High School and was a self employed Dairy Farmer all of his life. John was a member St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Farm Bureau Association, and the Agriculture Soil Conservation for 35 years.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Ryan and Margaret Nolte, his brothers, Robert Sr., Bernard, Ted, and Harold Miller. Surviving are his wife Mary V. Miller, three sons, Ronald Miller and his wife Jody, David Miller and his wife Jeannie all of Valley Grove, Richard Miller of Wheeling; three daughters, Patricia Crupe and her husband Gerald of Valley Grove, Ruth Miller of St Clairsville OH, and Barbara McLaughlin and her husband Mark of Wheeling; one brother Philip Miller of Vero Beach, FL; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street Elm Grove on Sunday, August 17, 2008 from Noon – 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St.Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2244 Marshall Ave. Wheeling WV 26003. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at

Our condolences for your loss. I remember Uncle Johnny always making me laugh on Sundays after church and going to the farm and getting fresh milk from him. My best memory was that he always had a smile when I saw him.

Johnny was a great person.

Someone,all of you can be very proud of. He certainly deserved a better lifes ending. He will be missed.
