Diefenbach, Johanna Oldenbruch 97, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday,
July 31, 2006 in The Home of the Good Shepherd.
She was born February 12, 1909 in Nurnberg, Germany, a daughter of
the late Ernst and Anna Oldenbruch.
She was a member of the Edgewood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Diefenbach, a sister Louisa, a daughter-in-law, Catherine Sue Diefenbach, one grandson, Billy Diefenbach.
She is survived by three sons, Eric Diefenbach of East Aurora, NY; Brent Diefenbach and his wife Patricia of Fairfax Station, VA; Kurt Diefenbach and his wife Kitty of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren, Scott, Russell, Larissa, Katherine and Eugene; a great grandson, Isaac.
Johanna had a life long interest in the arts; actively reading about opera, and attending performances in Italian, English or German, all languages in which she was fluent. She enjoyed playing the piano, sculpting and painting with oils.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 44 15th Street, Wheeling. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Edgewood Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1154 National Road, Wheeling, with Pastor Beth Welsch officiating.
Interment follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

Kurt, I was so sorry to hear of your loss…just know that your Wright Patterson AFB friends feel your sorrow and our prayers for peace for you and your family are flowing your way. Letting go is never easy but your precious memories of your time with your mom will go on forever.
