James David "Jimmy" Brown, 62, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday May 14, 2003. A beloved son now reunited with his parents, the late James E. Brown, and Lucille Maiden Brown. He was born March 4, 1941 in Rockingham County. He was a Newport News resident for over 25 years. He retired as the sales manager of Hockaday’s Used Cars, Inc. in Newport News. He was a Baptist.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge #25 in Newport News. He served as the president of the lodge from 1989 to 1995, and was currently on the F.O.P. state board. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1119 in Hampton. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Northside Lodge #292 in Richmond, was a thirty-second degree mason in the Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies, and was a member of the Acca Temple Shrine.
He is survived by his loving wife Fran Brown; a daughter Lisa D. Brown, and her special friend David, of Richmond; two step-daughters, Carolyn J. Webster, and her husband Ron, of Texarkana, AR, and Pamela L. Fowler and her husband Denver, of Newport News; a sister Mary Lou Atkinson of Richmond, as well as five grandchildren, Amber, Amanda, Bethany, Autumn, and Thomas.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Mary Immaculate Hospital’s Telemetry Unit, and to Pat and Jim Hanford, for their care, kindness, and support.
A funeral service will be conducted in Altmeyer Funeral Home Chapel in Newport News on Monday May 19, 2003 at 11:00am by Chaplain Henry Thomas and Chaplain Connie Madden. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 18 from 2:30pm till 5:00pm.
