Obituary for:
Jerry T. Smith
Age: 62

Jerry T. Smith, 62 of County Airport Road, East Liverpool, OH went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 4, 2008. He was born in Barberton, OH on November 26, 1945, a son of Georgene Green Burkett of Wadsworth, OH and the late Herman Lee Smith.

Moving to this area in 1975, Jerry worked for 32 years at First Energy Sammis Plant in their store room before his retirement in February 2008. He was a 1963 graduate of Norton High School and had attended Olivet Nazarene College. He was a member of the Calcutta Church of the Nazarene where he was the organist and sang bass in the choir as well as being a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in Vietnam.

His wife, Lynn E. Vierheller Smith, whom he married on July 10, 1970 survives him at home.

Besides his wife and mother, Georgene Green Burkett of Wadsworth, OH; two daughters: Jennifer Lynn Jones and her husband, Rick of New Cumberland, WV and Victoria Lynn Smith of West Point, OH; one brother: Lynn Wallace Smith and his wife, Palma of Kansas City, KS and three granddaughters: Kaitlynn Smith of West Point, OH and Victoria E. and Hannah McGaffick of Chester, WV survives him.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Terry Berry of the church officiating. The Tri State Burial Group and the Honor Guard of the West Virginia National Guard will accord military honors.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta one hour prior to the service.

Following the service, family & friends will gather at the Fellowship Hall of the Calcutta Church of the Nazarene on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road.
