VIRGINIA BEACH- Jeanne Strole Allen, 94, died on Monday, July 22, 2013. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late William Earl and Julia Hoffman Strole. Jeanne graduated from Maury High School in 1936 and the Holland’s College Class of 1940. She was the wife of the late James W. Allen, Jr. and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. Jeanne was a gifted watercolor artist, avid bridge player, and loved gardening. She moved to Sun City Center, FL in 2000 where she resided for 10 years. Jeanne was a devoted community volunteer throughout her entire life, helping numerous organizations over the years in both Virginia and Florida. She returned to Virginia Beach in April 2010, residing at Atlantic Shores until her passing Monday.

She is survived by three children, Allison A. husband Richard Young, James W. “Jim” wife Elizabeth “Liz” Allen, III, and Geraldine A. “Geri” husband Peter Boone; four grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Long, Charlotte Y. Pureza, Christopher J. Boone and Jeffrey A. Boone; three great-grandchildren, W. Connor Long, Peyton E. Long and Sarah A. Pureza; sister, Juliette S. Walthall; brother, Dr. William E. Strole, Jr.; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St, Norfolk, with Reverend Albert G. Butzer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, 300 36th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Geri, Allison, and Jim, I was very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Mrs. Allen was a very gracious lady and lived a long and productive life. My condolences to your family.
