On January 19, 2015 Jean Ray began her journey with God in heaven along side her daughter, Tammy. She was born April 10, 1937 to Margaret Harris and Byron Bryant. Her smile was angelic and her laugh was contagious. Some of her best qualities was she never met a stranger, never judged a person and loved unconditionally. She loved cooking, decorating, gardening, her pool and her dogs. Cheerleading was one of her adored activities for her beloved Princess Anne High School, where she belonged to many clubs such as the National Honor Society. Her greatest passion in life was her grandchildren and great-grandson, whom she loved dearly.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Bill E. Weddle; daughter Bonney and husband Jerry Gardner; her grandchildren Wesley Gardner, Kelle and husband Dylan Townsend, and Hayden Gardner; great-grandson, Asher Jetty. She is also survived by her sisters Peggy Lee and Jerry Carrington; Linda Mae and Graham Reed; Jackie and Artie Ahlsted. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her daughter Tammy Lynn Cassida and her parents.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at Nimmo United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach at 1:00pm. Online condolences may be shared with family at altmeyer.com

Dearest Jackie and family, Heartfelt condolences are extended to all of you at this difficult time. May Gods mercy and grace give you the peace in your heart to overcome the sadness of such a great loss. You were a great sister to Sissy, keep her in your heart forever. You have lots of memories , you and all the “girls”. Love, Light, Peace,
I had the pleasure of meeting “Aunt Sissy” back in 1984 when I was 16 years old – however we lost touch over the years but thanks to Facebook I was able to reconnect with her for the past year or so. She was always so kind and always had the nicest comments to make about any picture or post I would make of me or my boys. I just wanted to let all of the family know that I am truly sorry to hear about her passing. She will be missed greatly…. RIP Aunt Sissy
I LOVE YOU ALWAYS
I love you, Nana

My dear friend Bonney and family, what a fabulous legacy your mom left behind, she was a wonderful, sweet and loving person. I believe that it is God’s design for us to leave this earth a better place, and she surely did. Heaven has gained an angel and we here on earth have lost one. May the grace and mercy of the Lord comfort you at this time and always.
