Pettit, Jean L., 89, of Moundsville, WV, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Mound View Health Care Center, Moundsville.
She was born February 26, 1923 in Glen Dale, WV, a daughter of the late Guy A, and Hester A. LeMasters Wood.
Mrs. Pettit was a retired Nurse’s Aide from Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, with 25 years of service, and a member of the Church of Christ, Moundsville.
She enjoyed taking care of people and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene S. Pettit; a daughter, Carol I. Henry; three brothers, Phillip F. Wood, David P. Wood and Guy J. Wood; a sister, Martha L. Pettit.
Surviving are a son, Stephen G. Sarah Pettit of Moundsville; two brothers, Harlan C. Mary Wood of Arkansas and Samuel J. Gerry Wood of Glen Dale; two sisters, Barbara A. Zukoff of Glen Dale and Thelma K. Hawkins of Moundsville; a son-in-law, Robert Henry of Proctor; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 15, 2012 with Mr. Harlan C. Wood officiating.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard, WV.

I worked with Jean many years ago at OVMC. What a wonderful and caring person she was. Your family has my deepest sympathy.

I worked with Jean many years ago on old 4 South at OVMC and she was one of my favorite people. My deepest sympathy to her family. She was a wonderful person.

MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES FOR YOUR FAMILY’S LOSS. I ALSO WORKED WITH MRS. PETTIT ON OLD 4 SOUTH AT THE OVMC. SHE WAS A REALLY SPECIAL PERSON WHO REALLY CARED FOR HER PATIENTS AND I ALWAYS KNEW THAT WHEN JEAN WAS ASSIGNED TO A PATIENT THAT YOU COULD BE SURE THAT THIS PERSON WAS GOING TO BE WELL CARED FOR. REST IN PEACE JEAN. YOU DESERVE IT.
