03/19/1931 - 02/07/2015

Jean Kuberski Dorman, 83, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and was the wife of the late Erle F. Dorman, Jr.
Jean was a wonderful wife and mother and dedicated her life in enriching others with her kindness. Most of her life she was a homemaker, dotting grandmother and reliable friend. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching sports and going to the theater. Her favorite teams included Bishop Sullivan Catholic High Football where she almost never missed a game watching her grandsons play. Virginia Tech football and the Boston Celtics where her other favorite teams. She enjoyed the theater especially seeing her granddaughters perform. Mamaw, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, loved to bake with her grandchildren and they will carry fond memories of her and those times spent in her kitchen. She took pride in everything she did and was selfless in giving of her time to others.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jeanne Marie Sweeney of Virginia Beach; sons, Erle F. Dorman III and wife Andrea of Summerville, South Carolina, and Paul D. Dorman and his wife Lauren of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Connor, Holden, Bailey, Collin, Elijah, Noah, and Casey; siblings, Marcella, Julius “Sonny”, Mark, Kenny, John and Maryann; as well as many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to extend there thanks to Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they provided their mother.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, Sunday afternoon from 2 pm – 5 pm. Jean was my friend for over forty years and she had many, many friends. She was a compassionate person, always there when needed. We shared a lot of good times. She was loved by all her friends; but her main focus was always her family, her children. Jean was, first and foremost,a loving wife and mother. I will miss her more than words can tell. Goodbye, Dear Friend, sleep well.

Prayers and comfort to all the Sweeneys for the loss of your sweet mom and grandmom. I’ll never forget the support that she and Erle showed ALL our boys in their sports activities. She was surely a devoted mom and grandmom, and touched all who knew her.

Sorry for your loss. I am so glad I got to see Aunt Jeanne this summer at the Kuberski reunion. Wish I had more time with her. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.
