ORLOFSKE, Janet Bernadine, 68, formerly of Wood Street, Wheeling, died Monday, July 7, 2008 in Belmont Manor Nursing Home, St. Clairsville.

Janet was born April 20, 1940 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Elwood and Bernadine Rossell Orlofske. She was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy; retired from Wheeling Hospital, with 34 years of service; and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Richard, William “Bill” and Francis “Duffy” Orlofske.

Janet is survived by a sister, JoAnn Wojewodka and her husband, John of Wheeling; a brother, Gary Orlofske of Washington, D.C.; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Janet’s special family, Ed and Rosemary Covey, Louise and Smith McCauland, Bunny Covey, Kyle McCausland, Angela McCausland Potts, Andrea Covey LaVecchia, Chris Covey, Kara Henthorn Reno, Greg Kazmierski and Michael Kazmierski.

Friends will be received from 2-8 pm, Thursday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 2 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, with the Rev. Anthony Batt as celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH, 43943.

I worked with Janet for many years at Wheeling Hospital. She taught me so much and she was a tremendous person. I will certainly miss her. My deepest sympathies go to her family and friends.
