Anna May and Family,

Jim was a very special person, not only a classmate, our Senior Class President, but also a friend. I remember his mother directing our 4-H play and his father telling jokes. What a great family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time.

Dear Anna May & family, friends, shipmates. Have searched over the years for you guys in Buffalo, NY & San Diego, CA with “no results”. Today while talking with Dan Harris your family came up in our conversation as we recounted our 1967-68 tour together in VS-37 NAS North Island and USS Hornet. Dan’s wife Wanda later called with the info of Jim’s passing she found on the web. Needless to say, those were wonderful days and you’ve been endeared in our hearts ever since. Jim was one of the “good guys” and you and the kids were his rock. It doesn’t surprise me that he had a long successful US Navy career, I salute him and will always remember him fondly. If you care to, please get back to me sgpa2zfmly@aol.com

Dear Anna May,

So sorry to hear about Jim. I’ve thought about the two of you quite a few times over the years, wondering where you were and what you were doing. We were living pretty close to each other over the years, as I moved to Washington, DC in 1982, and worked there in banking until I retired in 2001. I retired back to WNY and am living in Tonawanda suburb of Buffalo and enjoying it very much.

Again , my thoughts are with you and yours at this sad time. Take care—-

I regret that I am underway and cannot attend the service of my friend and mentor. Jim represented the best of what makes a Chief Petty Officer and mentor. He challenged those things that did not make sense and alwasy insisted on doing what was best for Sailors. His love for his family was always evident. We shared many opportunities to sit in his office at NAMTRA Oceana and discuss philosophical issues of leadership, training, and life. I miss his presence but I will always carry his lessons with me.

Thank you Jim for being such a great friend when we were growning up in Stockton. Your family included me on trips to New York City , Alabama and your Dad took me and three others to California for the ’53 Jamboree. I loved your parents and I loved you Jim. As Ann pointed out your Dad was my “other Dad” and a great one. Am so sad for your family and will miss your stories as I do your Dad’s stories. I have been passing them on in your honor, Thanks for it all.

Our condolences to Ann and your family.

Thinking of you- especially today.

Uncle Jim will be greatly missed by the Dudley Crew. His smile, laugh, jokes, two finger twist when he was ready to leave a gathering, and of course rolling of his eyes at Nan when she was off on a tangent : … A very special man we have been blessed to know. Love you ALL! Sally

Uncle Jim was a great guy and a wonderful Uncle, he will be missed very much, but surely not forgotten. My thoughts are with all of you and I share your pain. Loved him lots!
