James E. Bussey

James Everette Bussey, 78, died May 1, 2015. Mr. Bussey was born in Norfolk to the late Taylor and Gladys Pugh Bussey. He was a veteran having served in the Strategic Air Command division of US Air Force. Mr. Bussey retired from the Ford motor company, was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the South Norfolk Moose Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, collecting guns and miniature cars.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Tessa Thompson David of Garner, NC; sister, Annette DeLee of Green Cove Springs, FL; nieces, Sherry DeLee of Green Cove Springs and Jeania Delk George of Hiram, GA; grandchildren, Josh and Dana Thompson; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friend at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake on Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Richard Castleberry officiating. Burial will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Jim was a great next door neighbor for 17 years. He was a very generous man that loved a good joke. My best memory is when he told us that he had a daughter & grandchildren. He was beaming! We’ll miss you Jim!!
