WHITFIELD, James E., 68, of Moundsville, died Friday, December 10, 2004 at Wheeling Hospital.
Born in Glendale, WVa. on April 7, 1936, James was the son of the late Albert and Audra Whitfield. He was a member of the Church of God, McMechen, a retired foreman of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, a local Troop Leader for The Boy Scouts of America, a veteran of the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Whitfield; daughters, Jamie Jo Whitfield and August V.J. Whitfield; and sister Darlene Whitfield.
Surviving are one son, James E. Whitfield Jr. and his wife Sharon of McMechen, W.Va.; one daughter, Sandra Bonar and her husband Brian of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; three brothers, Bill Whitfield and his wife Doris of Glendale, W.Va., Don Whitfield and his wife Imogene of Moundsville, W.Va., Tom Whitfield of McMechen, W.Va.; two sisters, Eleanor Brannan of Columbus, Ohio, Betty Jo Hoyle and her husband Jim of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandsons, Michael, Dustin, James III, Jonathan, Travis, Dylan Whitfield and Tyler Bonar and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, W.Va. on Sunday, December 12, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be on Monday, December 13, 2004 at 11 am at the Benwood McMechen Chapel, with Pastor Paul Smith as officiant. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
