Norfolk: James Anthony Tony Gammage, Sr., 63 of Norfolk, VA went to be with his savior Jesus Christ on December 12, 2007 after a 20 year battle with multiple chemical sensitivities. He was the loving son of the late James K. Gammage and Midge Gammage.

Anthony grew up in Norfolk, VA and graduated from Granby High School in 1962. At a young age he became one of the youngest amateur Ham radio operators in the US. This love for electronics paved the way for the rest of his career as he worked in this field until he was disabled in 1987. Anthony also served in the Air Force and worked in the Norfolk Police Dept. He was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, VA where he was the head of the prayer chain. Anthony was a true servant to others and a wonderful father and grandfather.

Anthony is survived by his mother, Midge Gammage, sister Linda Bell and her husband, Dale Bell, his son, Anthony Gammage Jr. and his wife, Sarah Gammage and his grandchildren, Maddie and Asher Gammage, his former wife Julia Whitley, his nephew Brad Bell and his wife Staci, and his great nephew, Braydon Bell.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM Monday. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations can be made to Campus Crusade for Christ, 1405 Founders Way, Harrisonburg, VA 22802 in lieu of flowers. Dear Midge, Linda and all you wonderful family members of Tony my dear nephew whom I didn’t get to see or spend much time with but did get to see and visit with back in 1994 and again in 1998 and those moments are precious memories to me and my family.

I pray God will comfort each and every one of his surviving family and bless them in their time of sadness.
