Jack E. Lower, Sr.
Age 70

Jack E. Lower, Sr., 70, of State Route 170, Negley, Ohio died at home on Sunday,
June 8, 2003 following a 3 year illness.

He was born in Rogers, Ohio on July 26, 1932, the son of the late Wilson Henry and Beryl Stillwell Lower, Jr.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Lower worked at the former Crucible Steel Mill in Midland, PA for 20 years in the Electrical Substation Dept. and as a Roll Grinder for J & L Specialities for 15 years, retiring in 1997. He was a 1951 graduate of New Waterford High School. Mr. Lower really enjoyed working with stain glass and at one time enjoyed bowling. He was very active in the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Rogers, Ohio, where he made and installed the stain glass windows for the church. He built everything on the family property himself, including his house, the pool and the deck around the pool.

He is survived by his wife, Esther E. Early Lower, whom he married August 19, 1953; a son, Jack Edward Lower, Jr. of Negley; two daughters, Linda McKenzie and her husband, Marvin of Negley and Diane Knowles and her husband, Chris of Millersburg; two sisters, Betty Smith of New Waterford and Eileen Lower of East Palestine, Ohio; three granddaughters, Angel Rose Lower, Faith Ann Lower and April Dawn Lower, all of Negley, Ohio.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rollin Lower and Cecil Lower.

Services will be held at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 49255 Pancake Clarkson Road, Rogers, Ohio on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 1:30 PM with Dr. Lester Hickman of the church, officiating.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Creat Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford, Ohio.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society.
