Ivan D. Costain, Sr., 79, of Wood Street, Wheeling, WV, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
Ivan was born April 15, 1923 in Wheeling, a son of the late William T. and Katherine R. Dunn Costain.
He was a retire crane operator for the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Steubenville Plant; a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, the Cave Club and Eagles Aerie 334; and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma V. Ullom Costain in 1999; a son, Vernon H. Costain; a sister, Virginia R. Mahoney; and three brothers, Joseph, Vincent and William Costain.
Surviving are a son, Ivan D. Costain, Jr. and his wife Janice, of Wheeling; three daughters, Catherine M. Jones and her husband, Keith, of Glen Dale, WV, Mary Frances Bremer and Helen D. Bremer and her husband, George, all of Warsaw, IND.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a son, Michael Costain and his wife Wanda, and their three children of Littlestown, PA.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 3828 Jacob Street, South Wheeling where a vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling with the Rev. Patrick Condron as celebrant. Entombment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
