Pockl, I. Mildred, 99, of Wheeling, WV died Sunday, January 21, 2007 in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.
She was born June 11, 1907 in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late George and Harriett Tighe Paulus. She was a home maker and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elm Grove.
Mrs. Pockl was a loving and devoted mother who raised her family after the early death of her husband Henry John Pockl at an early age. She loved to make afghans and countless batches of fudge and was always ready to laugh and loved to play cards with her family. Her annual Easter egg hunt on the creek bank was a much anticipated event by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard, Edgar "Mutt", Jay, John and her twin brother Raymond Paulus; two sisters, Helen Burkhart and Virginia Kuntz; daughter-in-law, Helen; and a granddaughter Christine Ann Ishmael.
Surviving are four sons, Robert J. Pockl and his wife Virginia of Elm Grove, James H. Pockl and his wife Nona of Bethlehem, William "Bill" J. Pockl and his wife Theresa of Elm Grove and Joseph P. Pockl and his wife Lindsay of Wheeling; two daughters Sandra Adams and her husband William of Elm Grove and M. Linda Ishmael and her husband Stephen of Lansing Ohio; a brother Robert Paulus and his wife Julie of Twinsburg, Ohio; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Wilhelm, S.M. as celebrant. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Vigil service will be held at 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Outreach Program.

I will always remember Mrs. Pockl for her laughter – she always had a smile when I saw her and her incredible cookie recipes which our family still uses to this day. My prayers are with all of you. Kim
