MINCH, Howard L. Sr., 78 of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at home.

He was born October 19, 1933 in Wheeling, a son of the late Charles W. and Lena Michel Minch.

He was a retired owner of the Good Shepherd Dairy Farm, retired employee of Savage Construction and the Operating Engineers Union, Local #132, a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Wheeling, an Army veteran of the Korean War serving in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Division, a member of the Ohio County Farm Bureau and AARP Chapter # 824.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Alan Minch, three brothers, Bernard, Alfred and Charles Minch Jr., three sisters, Minetta Michaels, Elizabeth Dague and Anna West, and a daughter-in-law Debra Davis Minch.

Surviving is his loving wife, Beverly Grace Craig Minch, five sons, Howard L. Minch Jr. and his wife Christine of Triadelphia, WV; Timmy Minch and his wife Amy of Wheeling; Daniel L. Minch and his wife Gina of Wheeling; Dennis Minch and his wife Charlotte of Triadelphia; Randy Minch of Wheeling; four daughters, Marianne Vargo and her husband Jerry of Valley Grove, WV; Linda Minch of Triadelphia; Marie Assaro and her husband Tony of Wheeling; LeeAnn Montgomery and her husband Jay of Martins Ferry, OH; one sister, Emily M. Tolliver and her husband Gene of Medina, OH; a sister- in-law, Peg Minch of Wheeling; grandchildren, Darlene Murrin, Suzie Rendon, Lisa McNickle, Missy McAbee, Adam Vargo, Sarah Angel, Sandy Defibaugh, Carl Sheller, Jessica Assaro, Jennifer Bryan, Leah Minch, Timmy Minch, Daniel Minch, Gianna Minch, Kyleigh Brogan Minch, Kaden Minch, Karly Minch, Conner Doyle, Alexis Janeczko, Brandon Janeczko, Teresa Siebieda, Lisa Woolwine, Tommy Woodford and Michelle Woodford, great grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathon, Libby, Jasper, Emma, Zachary, Charlie, Adison, Caylin, Adam, Coy, Kason, Jacob, Brandon, Breanna, Josie, Megan, Emily, Darrell, Kelsey and Jasmine, many nieces and nephews.

Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. John Mulcahy as celebrant.

Entombment with Military Honor in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Bev and family, I just read of Howard’s passing and am very sad for your loss and mine as well. I need not tell you all what a wonderful man he was. The John family send our condolences.
