Howard Eugene Manning

NEWPORT NEWS – Howard E. Manning, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday Dec. 26, 2008.
He was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Roanoke , Va., and lived most of his life in Newport News. After serving a career in the U.S. Navy he retired from Fort Eustis as an aircraft mechanic with 30 years of Civil Service. Howard was a member of Newport News Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He leaves to cherish his memory his lovely wife of 35 years, June Manning; one son, Ron Manning and wife, Barb of Portland, Ore.; one daughter; Sharon Daughters and husband, Tom of Camby, Oregon; brother, Carl Manning and wife, June of Poquoson, Va.; one sister, Lucille Howell of Gloucester, Va.; three stepchildren, Wayne Pittard and wife, Sue of Yukon, Okla., Jimmy Pittard and wife, Patti of Cary, N.C., Bridget Newman and husband, Robert of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, with full military honors at Peninsula Memorial Park, the Rev. H. K. Kriner officiating.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Parkinson’s Research.
