Virginia Beach-
Hernesto ”Ernie” Esguerra, 74, of Virginia Beach died on February 23, 2001 in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Born in Mendez, Philippines, Ernie was a retired courier for Sinnen-Green and Associates. He was a member of St. John The Apostle Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Ernie was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fleet Reserve Association, Cavite Association of Tidewater, Fil-Am Veterans Association of Tidewater.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a MSCS after 30 years of service and was a recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary M. Esguerra; two daughters, Tina Sinnen and her husband,Matt, of Virginia Beach, Carol Reyes and her husband, Robert, of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Jaime C. Reyes and his wife, Lisa; Brooks, Kurt and Samuel Sinnen; one sister, Engracia V. Esguerra of Mendez, Philippines; brother-in-law-Frank Lascola and his wife, Lorena and sister-in-law-Flo Mejia and her husband, Ernest and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral servcie will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 10:00am in St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, 23456, with the Rev. Dwight Shrader officiating.
Burial with full military honors will take place in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday, February 26, 2001 from7:00pm to 8:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernie’s name to the church building fund.
