Herman Ernst Mauer

Herman Ernst Mauer, born January 4, 1927 in Buffalo, New York, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, in Newport News.
Herman served his country loyally by enlisting into the United States Marine Corp, United States Army, and the United States Navy SeaBees. His combined service totaled 20 plus years of his young life.
After retiring from military duty, he settled his family in the City of Newport News, where he continued to work as a highly skilled, dedicated carpenter, in and around the Hampton Roads area, a vocation he dearly loved.
Herman loved and was very passionate about his family and was a very generous man.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Hisako Mauer; his children, Margaret C. Summers and fiancé Larry Schwenk, Joseph S. Mauer and wife, Deborah Mauer, Steven C. Mauer, William S. Mauer and wife Kimberly Mauer, Joan C. Rose and husband Gregory Rose; his grandchildren, Jillian N. Summers-Rivera and husband Jose Rivera, Nicholas H. J. Mauer, Elizazbeth Mauer, Jeffery B. Summers, Raven E. Asmus, Alexandra M. Summers and Chase A. Rose; and his loving pets, Mia and Tia.
He was much loved by his family and his many friends and will be greatly missed.
