BURGE, Herbert M. “Herb”, 81 of St. Clairsville OH, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Trinity East Medical Center, Steubenville OH.
Born in Wheeling WV on April 20, 1926, Herb was the son of the late Wilbur and Velma Burge. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel – Yorkville Plant and was a avid fan of the Wheeling Nailers. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Rosemary Ritchie Burge; one daughter, Linda Burge of St. Clairsville; one son, Mark D. Burge of Lake Stevens Wash.; two sisters, Leola Franken and Iola McGraw both of Columbus OH.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering at the Beck Altmeyer Funeral Home, 204 W. Main St. St Clairsville OH on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 6 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 7 pm. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Valley Hospice or the local animal shelter of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at altmeyer.com.

Herb was one very special guy and it is with sadness that I hear the sad news that he has passed. Herb was a kind, considerate and warm person who I hold some very special memories and consider him as more than just a friend. His memory will stay with me forever. I wish to pass on my condolances to the entire Burge family.

My sympathy goes out to you Rose. Herb was a great friend for many years of racing in the 1980âÄôs and 1990âÄôs. He will be missed but I will never forget the great times and the laughs we shared.
