OPIC, Helen M. Wawok, 87, of Cocoa, Florida, formerly of Boggs Run Road, Benwood, WV, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in Peterson Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center, Wheeling. She was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Elwood, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Duplaga Wawok. She was retired from L.S. Good & Co.; a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Cocoa; and St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, where she was a member of St. Johns Altar Society; the AARP; and Ladies Guild at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Opic; three brothers, John, Joseph and Pete Kusniez; a sister, Laura Saloie; a grandson, Donny Lappert; a stepgrandson, Lawrence Edward Andrews. Surviving are two sons, Thomas R. Opic and his wife, Janice, of Moundsville and Richard A. Opic and his wife, Clair Ann, of Wheeling; a daughter, Phyllis J. Crickett Lappert and her husband, Donald, of Titusville, Fl; five grandchildren, Richard Opic Jr., Ronald A. Opic, James N. Opic, Thomas Opic Jr., all of Wheeling and Mrs. William Elizabeth Marie Opic-Helms of McMechen; five stepgrandchildren, Juanita K. of Moundsville, Dennis Keith Randolph of Louisiana, Deborah Sue Wood of Moundsville, Jeffrey Lee Andrews of Cambridge, Ohio, and Kevin Scott Andrews of New Jersey; several great-granchildren. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling. Funeral liturgy with Mass which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Johns Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gervase Cain T.O.R., as celebrant. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling
