Harry P. Rose
Age: 83
Harry P. Rose of Wellsville Ohio passed away October 28, 2011 at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was born in East Liverpool on January 6, 1928 and was the son of the late Edward and Beulah Murray Rose.
Having lived most of his life in this area, he last worked for Ohio Edison Sammis Plant as a Security Guard. He graduated from East Liverpool High School, Class of 1947. He was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Wellsville. Harry was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians as well as The Ohio State Buckeyes. Harry was an accomplished baseball player that was locally known as “No Hit Harry Rose”.
Harry was a loving and devoted father to his 4 children and affectionately known as “Pappy Rose” to his grandchildren. He is survived by two sons: Douglas Rose and his wife Jayne of Wellsville, Ohio, and Andrew Rose and his wife Dawn of East Liverpool, Ohio; two daughters Gretchen Whitacre and her husband George of Warren, Ohio, and Suzette Newlun and companion Barry Coffin of East Liverpool, Ohio; a step daughter: Stephanie Adams and her husband John of Boston, Massachusetts, a step son: Christopher Winland of East Liverpool, Ohio; two sisters: LaVern Krafft of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Carolyn Wolfe of East Liverpool; Grandchildren: Ian, Jade and Madison Whitacre, Shayne and Aubrey Rose, Kye and Payton Newlun, Lynsey and Jenna Rose, and Sheila Carmella; Great Grandchildren: Shawn, Gianna, Alyson, and Vincent.
Harry was dearly loved by his long time companion Honey Winland.
Besides his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a “brother-like friend” Tom McNicol.
A funeral service will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday November 1st, 2011 at 7 PM with Pastor Mark Blakely of the 1stChristian Church officiating.
Burial will take place in Spring Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday November 1st 2011 at the funeral home in Wellsville from 4pm up until the time of service.
Always a smile always a good word a sports fan for sure he always treated everyone kind and fair.As a kid loved going to the rose house for football in the yard or lunch in the house..Harry you will be missed .my thoughts and prayers to the Rose family//
Certainly sad to learn about the passing of Harry “No Hit” Rose. A good fiend. Wonderful baseball player. A great great guy!!

Harry had such a wonderful sense of humor…he was always good for a laugh or chuckle. I have many fond memories of him. My sincere condolences to all his loved ones.
