Dad is in peace now after his long battle with cancer. He never was one for doctors or medication, but he relied on both to keep him alive over the past three years. Dad didn’t make any life style changes once he was diagnosed with his cancer. This goes to show what a “plain jane” kinda guy Dad was. He accepted his fate and just kept on going in the same direction that he has been for the past 70 years. It would be nice to think we all would act in the same fashion should we be confronted with such an obstacle. My heart felt thanks to the many friends and medical staff, who over the past 42 months, have cared for and gave encouragement to Dad. He was far from the “perfect” patient, at times he was basically a pain in the “subena”. We all move forward from here, with memories good and not so good. This is life and the path is full of bumps. Ben

I just found this memorial page…my thoughts and prayers are with each family member. I’m part of the O’Neill family; my sister Susan Mayo posted her message on Nov 9. We also have a brother Joseph who resides upstate NY and a younger sister Joann who lives in Biloxi, MS. Joann has two daughters: Sandy is active duty with the Air Force and is currently deployed over in Afghanistan and Pam lives in Ocean Springs MS with her young boys Deylin and Zack. I live near Tampa FL with my husband Scott – I’m retired from the Air Force Reserves with over 21 years; Scott retired from the regular Air Force with 24 years. We have one daughter by the name of Michelle and three grandchildren: Maykayla who is 5, Emily is 4 and Corbin is 2. Michelle enlisted in the Army last year and her current assignment is at Fort Stewart GA, career field is Combat Medic. May God’s love and peace of heart be with each and everyone. gwen@graverson.net
