H.B. “Sparky” Sanders

June 23, 1935 - March 27, 2015

06/23/1935 - 03/27/2015

On March 27, 2015, God called H. B. “Sparky” Sanders, Jr. to his eternal home in heaven. He was a Univ. of S. Carolina Pi Kappa Phi grad and a loyal supporter of his fighting Gamecocks. Sparky was an avid golfer and a member of Bow Creek Men’s Golf Association for 30+ years. He proudly earned four holes in one at courses in Va. Beach and NC. Hunting and fishing in Pungo with his two sons during their younger years was his delight. Sparky was a general contractor and introduced the profession to both boys.

Son of the late H. B. “Sparky”, Sr. and Ruby Sanders of Conway SC, he is survived by his wife, Marny of 51 years, their sons, Brandon Selina and Kevin Sanders, and one sister, Jane Adams of Satellite Beach, FL. He was a doting grandfather to Madison Brady Witter and Zoey and Ryder Sanders. He loved making them laugh, and they entertained him with their many “plays and performances.” They all built special memories spending quality time together outside. Also, he loved and enjoyed his many pets, especially his last black lab, Bogey. After being confined to his home, he truly missed attending services at his church, Tabernacle UMC.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 31 from 6 to 8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., Va. Beach. Services will be conducted by Pastor Jack Davis, Wednesday, April 1 at 11 am, Tabernacle UMC, 1265 Sandbridge Rd, Va. Beach 23456. Burial will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Missions at Tabernacle UMC or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at: altmeyer.com. A good man obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 12:2

Gamecocks and Tigers as Christians fight here, but when the battle’s over take flight to that beautiful city four-square over there. On our last visit with Sparky on his last day of life, we renewed our respective loyalties to the Gamecocks and Tigers, but then shared our ultimate and eternal loyalty to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We shall meet again not on the field of battle, but on the streets of gold. Chuck and Carol Dunn
