Dear Mr. Darrah, Paul and Keith,

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Darrah’s passing. I have such fond memories of living next door to your family. Mrs. Darrah was like a grandmother to me. You are all in my prayers and I hope this holiday season will be brightened by your memories of her. She had such a joy for life and was always giving to others and smiling; it makes me smile through my tears to remember her.

Love, Chris

I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Darrah’s passing. She was a constant presence in my childhood, always welcoming and patiently answering my most mundane questions – I remember her explaining the benefits and care of copper pots and pans when I asked about the ones in her kitchen. She was more than a neighbor – she always liked for us to call her “Grandma Darrah.” My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I was so sorry to hear of Grace’s passing. I worked for Paul many years ago when he was in the Navy and have been fortunate to keep in touch with him through the Naval Hospital Revims program. I often saw both Paul and Grace at the hospital and always found Grace to be a most gracious and lovely woman. I retired from the Naval Hospital last December and was so proud to have Grace and Paul attend the ceremony. My deepest condolences to Paul and the Darrah family.

To Paul Jr,

We are sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Please convey our condolences to your father and the entire family. Although we did not know her personally, yesterday’s article in The Virginian-Pilot describes an energetic and passionate woman, who will be greatly missed by many, particularly within the local military and religious communities. Certainly her good-natured and dedicated spirit continues to thrive through you, and presumably also through Keith, the grandchildren, and all those who she touched in life.

To Paul, Paul Jr. and Keith,

We are very sad to hear of Graceís passing. We can still see her smile and hear her laughter, both of which were very contagious. We were much more than neighbors or even friends. We always felt like family. Grace was always there for us, and our children thought of her as their grandma next door. We have never known anybody more thoughtful or caring.

Our faith teaches that death is just a passing from this world into a better place. Grace is free from all her human ailments and is at peace. Now she is able to love us with a deeper and fuller love that is enriched by God’s own love. Although we are saddened by Grace’s death, we know that she has a new heavenly body and is free from pain. We can picture Grace looking down on us and smiling. She is another of God’s angels watching over us.

Please know that Grace and all of you are always in our hearts and in our prayers.

Love,

Bob & Terry Prince
