Goldie A. Renshaw Byard, 83, of McMechen, W.Va., passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at her home.
She was born October 2, 1931 in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles W. and Sarah K. O’Reilly Renshaw. She was retired from the former Continental Baking and was a member of St. James Catholic Church, McMechen.
In addition to her parents, Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Byard, Sr., in 1973; five sisters, Martha Gates, Margaret Mohas, Edna Matheny, Virginia Bennington and Isabelle Norman; and four brothers, Charles, Owen, James and Alfred Renshaw.
She is survived by her two sons, William Byard, Jr. and David Byard and his wife, Kimberly, all of Wheeling; three daughters, Goldie Wayt and her husband, Jon of Moundsville, Marie Price and her husband, Scott of Las Vegas, Nev. and Rebecca Byard of Moundsville; a sister, Ruth Simmons of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Monday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, where a vigil service will be held at 6 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen, with Rev. Bekeh Utietiang as celebrant. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
