Gerard Gregory Golden, 85, died in a local hospital on October 3, 2001.
Born in Everett, MA, Mr. Golden served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater as a radar operator and was the recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor. He was also a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
The last of seven children, he is survived by his son Greg Golden and his wife, Roberta of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, John Woods, Jr. of Billrica, Mass., Erika Woods Cunningham of Georgetown, Mass., Gerard G. Golden II, Timothy M. Golden, and Alexandra Marie Golden all of Virginia Beach. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews most of whom reside in the Boston area.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Patricia Golden and his daughter Laura Golden Woods.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Cape Cod, MA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the M.E. Cox Center for Elder Day Health Care, 644 N. Lynnhaven Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
