Dear Mom,Family was so important to you. I know you loved each and every person in your family dearly. During your final days I almost stopped watching the grandchildren to care for you, but your face lit up with a smile every time one of them came into your room to see you. So I didn’t.

I’m so grateful for all the people you were able to see the last few months of your life, your sister, Aunt Took, Uncle Tom and Aunt Nancy a few times all the way from Michigan, your son, David, whom you hadn’t seen in several years Uncle Tom and Maggie made that happen. Carl and Jerry Helwig.

I’m so grateful that Melody had the insight to get the family together for pictures the day before you died. We will always have that.

I’m so grateful that Donna was still here and that you were surrounded by your kids and your husband and that your death was here at home with us instead of all alone in a hospital room. I’m so grateful for the sensitivity of all my brood and their husbands. They were all here within a half hour.

And I’m grateful for the potato soup that Aunt Took made you. No, it was NOT BLAND either.

I’m grateful you were able to have vernor ice cream floats.

I love you Mom, and I will never forget you.

We will miss you, Mom. Love Gina

In the early 90’s, Gerry worked with us, and we all loved her so. She always greeted us every morning with that great smile. She was so much fun. She talked often of her children, and grandchildren, and were glad she could spend these last years with all of you. Please give Howard our condolenses, we loved him too,he was always so helpful around the office. They were great fun together. Our thougths, and prayers, are with you at this sad time. dr. samuel nelson, maryann, mildred

My grandmother was a very special person to me. We went shopping together, played cards, and all kinds of simple things that meant the world to me. I want to thank my grandma for my smile, the kind that lights up the room whenever it’s displayed. Also, thank you for the music stand. I did stick with it, and music made me the person I am today! All of her wisdom has changed my thinking, and I think we all can think something to thank her for. I love you, Grandma, and I’ll miss you. I know she’ll be watching over us.

My mom was a great mom…. She was worth every smile I got to see of her… I know she is smiling at Jesus in Heaven now and maybe shopping at the JC Pennys up there.. Only the sales though cause my mom was a penny pincher. Pray for my dad and our family in this time!!!

Prayers are with you at Geri’s Death.

I went to St. Matt’s with her and we graduated in 1951. We talked and planned to attend St. Joe’s Nursing School but unfortunately she was not accepted. I remember having such good times with her. After a few years I lost track of her and now that I see she attended St. Leo’s I wonder if we missed one another because I went there until 1996.

To all her family, our sympathy and she will be kept in our prayers.
