Georgianna Ringas

August 11, 1952 - October 17, 2012

08/11/1952 - 10/17/2012

Georgianna Ringas was called home to the Lord on Oct. 17, 2012, after a three month battle with terminal cancer.
She was born Georgianna Reynolds on Aug. 11, 1952, to the late Frederick William and Hazel Evelyn Reynolds.
Georgianna was a devoted wife, mother, Yia Yia, and a lover of all children. She enjoyed helping others and volunteered her time at Mary Immaculate Hospital and Saint Francis Nursing Home. Georgianna was a self-less woman, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her greatest passion was giving to others, in any manner she could.
Yia Yia was the heart and soul of our family. She was a kind and generous spirit, who gave all of herself to those who knew her, and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, Scrabble, dice, and many more games with her family and friends. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and would do anything for them.
Georgianna is preceded in death by her sister, Rosemma Royko.
Georgianna is survived by her husband, Vassilios Ringas; sisters, Grace Reynolds and Ruthanne Snyder; brother, Russell Reynolds and twin brother, George Reynolds; six children, daughter, Dora Koukaliotis and husband Angelo, daughter, Karen Pingley and husband Randy, daughter, Anna Capobianco and husband Cono, son, Evangelos Ringas and wife Elizabeth, daughter, Hazel Bruce and husband Olen, and daughter, Helen Micha. Yia Yia’s memory will live forever in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, and her beloved 13 grandchildren, Brandon and Samantha Pingley, Alexis, Cono, and Aidan Capobianco, Calista, Melina, and Vassilios Ringas, Isabella, Carmella, and Aurelio Bruce, and Christopher and Mary Micha.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct, 19, at Altmeyer Funeral Home at 12893 Jefferson Avenue, with the prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 60 Traverse Lane, Newport News.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Association.
