Cheryl, John, and Mike,

May god bless you and keep you tightly in his arms during this difficult time. I am so sorry to have learned about Mr. Weinch’s passing.

As you know, we go way back. Mr. Weinch left not only myself but my family with alot of wonderful memories of him. From New Year’s Eve parties, School dances, to Catholic Central football games.

I had the pleasure of seeing him a few months back while eating at Bob Evans. He came over sat with me and my son, and we caught up.

You and your family will always hold a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Cheryl, Mary, Joyce, Mike, & John,

Our love and condolences to you & all the family, all the grandkids. May he rest in peace.

During our June/July 2010 Wheeling visit to see dear Aunt June, we enjoyed catching up with George and laughing about the good old days.

Way back in rough & rowdy East Wheeling as kids, George was my protector against the local bullies. At Cathedral Grade School, “Nobody messed with Weinch’s cousin.”

One dark evening, we were walking home from a Boy Scouts meeting at St. Anthony’s when a local gang started after us. As we ran for our lives, George told me, “You go ahead, Joey, I’ll hold them off”. The gang ended up catching us both, but, as luck would have it, one of the gang members was also a classmate so they let us go.

But the most traumatic childhood memory occurred on one September afternoon long ago. George was staying with us, and my mother was frantically decorating two homemade birthday cakes, one for me 20th and one for George 21st. However, without thinking, mom accidentally put “Happy Birthday Georgie” on both. Not sure I ever recovered.

We’ll miss ya, George.

Cheryl:

I am very sorry to hear about George’s passing. Since I left WPSC almost 5 years ago, I often think about the good times we shared while working together at the Coke Plant. I also will never forget the night we built the gate at your house on Union Ave and he smashed his thumb with a hammer – I think it was your anniversary – and we spent most of the night at the ER. My condolences on your loss and you and your family will be in my prayers.

Mike,

My sincerest condolences to yourself, your family, and your friends. Looking at my son who is not that much younger than yourself, it saddens me to think what he would feel if we could not continue to enjoy each other’s company. We recently lost a very close friend so I sympathize and understand part of what you and your family must be going through right now. I wish you all the courage to face your new reality, the strength to allow yourselves to mourn openly, and the wisdom to remember the good times you shared with your father. The first two you’ll need especially in the short term, the last I hope you’ll use for the rest of your life. Take care.

Mike, I am sorry to hear of your father’s passing. In knowing you as a smart and kind man, I know that you must have obtained those qualities from him. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts. And please call me it you need anything, and I will see you in the next couple of days to see how you are doing.

My deepest sympathy,

Dan Nickel
