George L. Velas

George Velas, 85, of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, July 19, 2002, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
He was retired from Goshom Medical Oxygen Co.; a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church; and a member of the PAP Club, Wheeling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Helminski Velas; his parents, Louis L. and Georgia Velas; a brother, Leo Velas and sister Bessie Stein.
Surviving are three sons, Wayne, Gary and Chris Velas, all of Wheeling; two daughters, Rita Buzzard of Glen Dale, WV.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Joseph Wilhelm, S.M. as celebrant. Entombment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, for Masses in memory of George Velas.
