George F. Kelly, age 77, of formerly of Walnut Street East Liverpool passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital on Saturday, May 31, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

The son of the late Fred “Pat” and Eva Davis Kelly, he was born in East Liverpool on February 20, 1931 and lived his entire life here. George was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and worked in the East Liverpool School System at the Westgate School as a Custodian for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army taking part in the Berlin Airlift 1948-1950, the Korean Conflict 1950-1952 and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 66.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Jean R. Stone Kelly, on January 9, 2007. The were married in 1992.

Survivors include a step son, Victor, three Step daughters, Terry, Rose, and Connie, 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, and wife. George was also preceded in death by daughter, Karen Giovanini; a brother, Kenny Kelly; three sisters, Inez Mason, Virginia Joy, and Zelma Reed.

Services will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul Sturm officiating.

Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery with the Tri-State Burial according full military honors.

Friends may call at the East Liverpool Chapel on Monday, June 2, 2008, from 2- 4 and 6 to 8 PM.
